Neuropathy Treatment
Colorado Springs
Peripheral neuropathy is a condition that affects the nerve endings, in which the impulses have been distorted and are sending incorrect signals to the brain. This results in a sensation that’s not supposed to be there, such as tingling, numbness, pins and needles, itching, or burning. Peripheral neuropathy can have many different causes, but two of the most common are diabetes and chemotherapy.
How We Can Help
At Lawrence Chiropractic, we’ve had excellent results treating peripheral neuropathy. Our approach includes near-infrared light (NIR), an altered TENS unit at a very low frequency, and vibration. Here’s how it works:
- Near-infrared light, or NIR, produces nitric oxide, which dilates the blood vessels. This increases blood flow, delivering more oxygen and nutrients to the nerve endings.
- The TENS unit is attached to the bottoms of the feet and sends a signal up one leg, through the spinal cord and down the other leg, and then back again. This retrains the nervous system.
- Vibration creates nitric oxide by oscillating the bones, which also helps deliver more nutrients to the nerve endings.
For most of our patients with peripheral neuropathy, this combination has proven effective. The outcome depends on underlying conditions, and it does not work for everyone. Dr. Lawrence will give you an honest opinion as to whether he thinks our treatment can help your peripheral neuropathy.
